R. Paul Cracroft was born in 1922 in Salt Lake City. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Utah, served an LDS mission in the North Central States from 1942-1944 and served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. He worked for the Salt Lake tribune and became the Assistant Director of Public Relations at the University of Utah from 1948-1951. From 1951-1956, he was Press Secretary for Sen.
